How to make your profile stand out.

Families decide from your profile. These tips help them pick you, from your references to your photo and the link you share.

More references, more bookings

Families trust what past employers say. Ask everyone who paid you for this kind of work:

Two or three references build trust much faster than one. Each past employer gets a short form, and it takes them about three minutes. Friends and family don't count.

Be kind: no answer after a few days? You can send one friendly reminder. After that, please leave it - no more messages or calls. A reference is a favour, and some people are just busy. Ask someone else who paid you instead.

A photo with a smile

Families look at your photo first. A clear, friendly photo helps them feel they already know you.

Like this: daylight on your face, just you, and a smile.
  • A full-length or posed photo
  • Sunglasses, hats or filters
  • Group photos
  • Quotes or cartoons

The same photo on WhatsApp

When a family books you, they say hello on WhatsApp. If they see the same smiling face, they know it's you. So the same goes there: no quotes, cartoons or group photos.

Your own words

Your profile asks a few short questions about you and your work. Answer each one in one or two real sentences. Families want to hear you, not a CV.

A good place to start: what do you love about the work?

Certificates

Have a first aid or childcare certificate? Add a photo of it to your profile. Once we've seen it, families see it marked "Seen by us".

A fresh calendar

Families can only book the times you mark as free, and only if you've confirmed your calendar in the last two weeks. Check it once a week, for example every Sunday, and confirm it's correct.

Share your link, not your number

Once your profile is live, you get your own link. Share it in local Facebook and WhatsApp groups (check each group's rules first), and send it when someone asks about your work.

Example of a shared profile link: Nomsa K., nanny and babysitter, 4.9 stars from 8 reviews, work confirmed by 3 past employers.
This is how your link looks when you share it. Nomsa is a made-up example.

Why your link, and not your number?
